Synopsis

"Vom ersten Moment an" is the German edition of Jen DeLuca's debut novel "Well Met", the first book in her Well Met series. Emily has moved to the small town of Willow Creek to help raise her niece after her sister's accident, and reluctantly agrees to volunteer at the local Renaissance Faire — where she immediately clashes with Simon, the uptight schoolteacher who runs the event and moonlights in character as a swaggering pirate.

What starts as mutual irritation shifts once Emily sees Simon in his Faire persona, and the two strike up an arrangement to keep up appearances for the sake of the festival while their real feelings for each other develop off to the side. DeLuca, who wrote the book after years volunteering at her own local Renaissance Faire, leans into small-town community, found family among the Faire's cast and crew, and a slow-burn grump/sunshine dynamic between the leads.

The German translation is by Anita Nirschl, published by Rowohlt as the first book in the "Well Met" series.
