Synopsis

A guileless, literal-minded teenager is admitted to Groxbourne, a boarding school where his earnest obedience and inability to grasp irony make him a perfect candidate for the military — until his teacher, a pulp-fiction-obsessed romantic, drags him into a real-life adventure quest across France. Tom Sharpe's satire of British school life and the military establishment escalates into farce as Peregrine's blind loyalty to the men around him leads him into increasingly absurd and dangerous situations.
