Verbotene Gefühle
Synopsis
"Verbotene Gefühle" is the German title for the first book of Katharine McGee's "Beautiful Liars" series, originally published in English as "The Thousandth Floor". Set in Manhattan in the year 2118, the story takes place almost entirely inside a single thousand-story mega-skyscraper, where social status is measured by how high up you live.
The novel follows a cast of teenagers whose lives intersect at the top and bottom of the tower — among them an ambitious girl determined to climb the social ladder, a couple whose relationship crosses forbidden social lines, and a young woman drawn into a love triangle with devastating consequences. Their secrets, rivalries, and romances build toward a tragedy that opens the book before circling back to explain how it happened.
McGee blends near-future speculative technology with the drama of a YA ensemble romance, and the German edition was translated by Franziska Jaekel for Ravensburger.
