This book was a whirlwind of scenarios, emotions, and at first I wasn't sure if it was for me, but I persevered and Boy am I glad i did.
It is important to note that this book does contain situations that would pose to be a trigger to some people, and if you are triggered by dubious consent, relationships built on circumstance, abuse, etc. then I recommend researching and reading some reviews to see if this book is for you.
Now, this book starts out by having a human girl who was abducted and is a slave to Alien assholes who abuse her. She is 'won' by an Alien man, to have in any way he deems fit. Neither can understand each other, however, this male, believes that she, Lumen, is his fated mate. The result of this is an uncomfortable and uneasy sexual encounter. The two end up forming a bond, both being slaves, and eventually gaining the means to understand each other.
Rather than divulging the whole plot, because boy, there was a lot, I will say that this book gets better as it goes along. It almost reads as if it could be a series itself, instead of a novel on its own.
I did really enjoy this book, it had me laughing, crying, and just enjoying seeing the characters grow , mature, accept their mistakes, protect each other, and build a family.
