Synopsis

A Wisconsin castle holds the secrets of three generations. In 1870, orphaned housemaid Daisy François takes a position there to escape her past, and finds her reclusive employer, the Gothic authoress Ora Moreau, guarding tales darker than the ones she writes — even as women from the area begin to disappear.

In the present day, Cleo Clemmons is hired to help an aging heiress confront her hoarding inside the crumbling castle, only to uncover relics of the old disappearances and a legend, the Lady with the Crooked Hand, that seems to be stirring awake again. A dual-timeline gothic mystery about the stories a house keeps and the women forced to unravel them.
