Synopsis

Unstoppable Us, Volume 1: How Humans Took Over the World is Yuval Noah Harari's first book written for children, illustrated throughout in colour by Ricard Zaplana Ruiz.

It starts with a puzzle. Humans are not the fastest, strongest or toughest animals on Earth, so how did they end up in charge of it? The answer Harari builds is about superpowers of a quieter kind: learning to make fire, navigating by the stars, telling stories that let large groups of strangers work together.

From those first appearances millions of years ago, the book runs all the way to microwaved dinners and the moon landing, using maps, a timeline and cartoon illustrations to keep the argument moving.

Written for readers of about ten and up, it opens the Unstoppable Us sequence and can be read on its own.
