Synopsis

Crusading lawyer Vikram Pandey has spent thirteen years mourning a friend he believed dead. His search for a missing youth leads him to Holywell Street — London's most notorious address for illegal pornography — where he discovers that friend very much alive: Gil Lawless, who has built a life for himself running one of the street's bookshops, and who isn't about to apologise to anyone for it. Reunited by investigation and old feeling alike, the two men are drawn back into each other's orbit even as the secrets of Holywell Street close in around them. A novella in K. J. Charles's Sins of the Cities series, set in London in 1875.
