Synopsis

Tunnels of Blood sends Darren Shan and Mr Crepsley away from Vampire Mountain to a city where Crepsley has business of his own, accompanied by their snake-boy friend Evra Von. While there, a series of murders draws Darren's attention - the killings bear the marks of a vampaneze, a violent offshoot of vampire society bound by a code that forbids drinking without killing.

Alongside the hunt for the killer, Darren befriends Debbie Hemlock, an ordinary teenage girl whose friendship pulls at the isolation of his life as a half-vampire posing as human. The book narrows the saga's focus to a single city and a single killer, giving it a tighter, more thriller-like shape than the volumes set at Vampire Mountain.
