3.75-4 stars; I enjoyed this book and used immersive reading (audiobook is very enjoyable)
The last portion of the book is the best, but takes a while to get there.
Its clever, intriguing, but a little predictable. The first “book” reminded me of old HMS books from 1800s (slightly more contemporary than those, but still the same heart) & I laughed out loud a few times.
Ive seen many reviews that theres mystery to this, but the mystery is more of subplot; I actually preferred this style (for this book) rather an outright mystery of “whose account is true”.
Certianly one of the easier books in the NYT 21st ct. 100 & pulitzer lists.
