Synopsis

There is nothing Truman Gritt will not do to protect his family, including serving years in prison for a crime he did not commit. When he is finally released, the life he knew is upended by his mother's fatal overdose, and Truman steps in to raise the young children she has left behind. He is hard, secretive, and stretched thin trying to save a brother even more broken than he is, and he has never in his life needed anyone's help. So when beautiful Gemma Wright tries to step in, he meets her with anything but gratitude. But Gemma has a way of working herself into people's lives, and little by little she slips past his ironclad defenses to the wounded man underneath. As Truman builds something fragile and real with her and the children, his dark past refuses to stay buried. When it finally collides with the future he is fighting for, his loyalties are tested, and he faces the toughest decision of his life in this raw, emotionally charged standalone.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can I read Tru Blue as a standalone, or do I need to read the series in order?

You can read Tru Blue on its own. It is book 1 of The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Peaceful Harbor, one of the interconnected sub-series in Melissa Foster's Love in Bloom collection, and every Love in Bloom book is written as a standalone with its own complete romance and a guaranteed happily ever after. Reading the series in order simply lets you follow the extended family as familiar characters reappear across the books.

  • Who are the main characters in Tru Blue?

Tru Blue follows Truman Gritt and Gemma Wright. Their romance is the heart of the book, set among the big, close-knit families Melissa Foster's readers return for.

  • How steamy is Tru Blue?

Tru Blue is an open-door contemporary romance, so it pairs its emotional story with on-page love scenes. Readers who prefer sweeter, closed-door versions can look for Melissa Foster's clean-language editions published under her pen name, Addison Cole.
