Synopsis

Triquetra is Kirstyn McDermott's dark, adult continuation of Snow White, set after the fairy tale's happy ending has curdled. Snow White, now called Fairest, keeps up a strange monthly ritual with the stepmother she has imprisoned in the castle alongside the infamous magic mirror: sharing an apple and imagining ever more elaborate ways to kill one another. When the stepmother turns her warnings on the Prince himself, suggesting his interest in their young daughter mirrors his interest in Fairest at the same age, the fairy tale's real villain comes into question. A tightly wound short story about inherited trauma and who gets believed.
