Synopsis

Camille Deming cooks, cleans, homesteads and posts about all of it. Her farmhouse looks the way a tradwife account is supposed to look, and the only thing missing from the picture is a baby, which her followers keep mentioning. Off camera, things with her husband Graham have been difficult for some time.

Behind the house, in the wheatfield, there is an old well. Camille makes a wish at it. What follows she decides to interpret as angelic, including the night something comes to her, and the wish is granted.

The pregnancy announcement outperforms everything she has ever posted. Graham's reaction is muted. The pregnancy itself progresses far too quickly and she has started craving raw meat. Saratoga Schaefer writes it as horror about the performance of domestic womanhood, in the lineage of Rosemary's Baby.
