Synopsis

An invitation from the Collector brings Brom to the Champions Academy, the one place he can learn magic. He arrives expecting lessons and finds a condition instead: magic at the Academy is worked by a Quad, four students bound together, and a student without one is a student on his way home.

The three assigned to him are not promising material. There is a decades-old feud between two of them that neither has any interest in setting down, and a feral little urchin who trusts nobody. Brom has to make a functioning Quad out of people who would sooner see each other expelled — and he has to do it before the Academy does the expelling for them.

This volume collects Episodes 1-3 of Tower of the Four — The Quad, The Tower, and The Test — the opening arc of Todd Fahnestock's academy fantasy. It was a finalist for the Colorado Book Award in 2021.
