Well, it's been quite a journey (quite literally in reading time as well, since it took me three months to finish the book)! With two books to go, this was one of the grimmest and darker installments of the series, with sub-plots and hints from previous books coming to an end (?), through a huge convergence at the city we met in the very first book, Darujistan.
With every book of the Malazan Book of the Fallen Erikson proves that what he writes is much more than just "fantasy"; the themes, the patterns, the leitmotifs that emerge in his books are deep and complex, and, along with great storytelling, they create trully literary achievements. I wish more people who read serious literature gave them a try...
