Synopsis

In the conclusion to the A Dance of Lies duology, Vasalie must venture into the underworld to restore the memories of her lost king and prevent a total war.

Vasalie previously sacrificed her life to assassinate the ruthless King Illian. To bring her back, Illian’s brother Anton—the allied king Vasalie came to love—made a trade with Moranya, goddess of the underworld. In exchange for Vasalie’s life, Anton surrendered his compassion, his memories of her, and the history of the last six weeks.

Stripped of these memories, Anton suspects his allies of treason and agrees to rule the realm of the dead alongside Moranya. His absence leaves his original kingdom facing civil war and vulnerable to invasion by Vasalie’s cruel father.

Vasalie must travel to the underworld to recover Anton and stop the impending invasion. However, the king she encounters has reverted to his former self: arrogant, ruthless, and debauched. To save both realms, Vasalie must force Anton to remember their past, regardless of the emotional toll.
