Drawing on the work of Reinhart Koselleck and François Hartog, this book explores how German political leaders, from the Thirty Years' War to the Third Reich, envisioned and manipulated history. It examines how figures like Friedrich Wilhelm, Frederick the Great, Bismarck, and Hitler each approached the past and future to shape the state. The study reveals their differing beliefs about tradition, continuity, and the role of the sovereign in navigating historical change.
