Synopsis

Tideborn is the sequel to Eliza Chan's Sunday Times bestselling debut Fathomfolk, and the concluding volume of the Drowned World duology, published by Orbit in March 2025. It returns to Tiankawi, the semi-submerged city where humans and fathomfolk — sirens, seawitches, kelpies and kappa — have coexisted in uneasy tension since a great flood remade their world.

In the aftermath of a devastating tsunami, half-siren activist Mira fights to hold her fractured city together and unravel a conspiracy threatening what peace remains, while dragon princess Nami undertakes a perilous ocean voyage to persuade a mythical Titan not to destroy Tiankawi for its past crimes. The seawitch Cordelia pursues an agenda of her own amid the unrest.

Drawing on East and Southeast Asian mythology and folklore, the novel continues Fathomfolk's exploration of diaspora, prejudice and rebuilding after catastrophe, closing out the duology with political intrigue and mythic set pieces.
