Synopsis

Adam Grant opens Think Again with a simple observation: we spend more effort practicing what to think than practicing how to rethink. The book argues that in fast-changing fields — and in ordinary disagreements — the ability to doubt your own conclusions and revise them is more valuable than raw intelligence or conviction.

Grant contrasts four mindsets — preacher, prosecutor, politician, and scientist — and makes the case for approaching your own beliefs the way a scientist treats a hypothesis: something to test, not defend. He draws on studies of forecasters, debate strategies, and workplace culture to show what happens when people, and organizations, build in room for changing their minds.

The second half moves from individual thinking to persuasion and collective decision-making: how to argue productively instead of just winning arguments, and how schools and workplaces can reward curiosity over certainty. It's a practical, research-grounded book rather than a memoir or manifesto.
