oh boy, this was something!! i didn't know if i should give this 3 or 4 starts, but because i did not expect THAT to happen to one of the characters by the ending i gave it 4. this was my first lisa jewell novel and i really enjoyed it, despite knowing that her other novel "the family upstairs" was more recommended that this one (i plan on reading it soon, though).
general thoughts:
- the writing style was simple, but enjoyable. i read this one pretty fast and didn't find it tiring.
- i'm a wh*re for short chapters. i love them. i ADORE being able to read complete chapters in little to no time, so that i can squeeze some reading even in the 10 minutes before going to work.
- the plot was good, the pacing was consistent and even though i could guess some outcomes, there were some twists that i did not expect.
- i love reading shifting points of view, i find it interesting to see the different characters' thoughts. i just like the dynamics of it and how it gives a story that little extra that makes it better (at least in my opinion).
so yeah. liked it. i don't know if i'll ever re-read this one, but i will definitely pick up another book of hers.
