Synopsis

Dixie Wheeler was one year old when her father killed her mother and brothers and then cut his own throat. She was the only one spared. A song was still playing when the bodies were found, and the press gave her a name from it: Baby Blue.

Twenty-five years later, Dixie has no memory of the family she lost and wants a link to them. When her childhood home comes up for sale, she ignores every sensible objection and moves in.

Living there goes badly. The ghosts of her family seem to settle back into the rooms, and Dixie begins to doubt her own mind. She cannot tell whether the menace in the house is her father or something she has built herself.

To make sense of the present, she tracks down the detective who first investigated the murders. What she learns raises an ugly possibility: the crime pinned on her father may belong to someone else.

Bodies start to pile up around her, and the stakes narrow to her few surviving loved ones and what is left of her sanity. A psychological thriller in a haunted house, it reads dark and fast, with a narrator whose grip on reality is in doubt.
