Synopsis

The armadas of the universe are setting sail for the next dimension. Among them is M. Francisco Fabrigas, described in his own account as a scientist, an explorer, a dreamer and repeatedly as a fool, aboard a ship crewed by children and carrying passengers nobody booked.

Against him: the Pope of the Universe with the Fleet of the Nine Churches, Her Majesty Queen Habitas X, and a well-dressed mesmerist who is narrating the book and adjusting what you think as he goes.

M. Suddain's first novel is enormous, footnoted, constantly interrupting itself, and closer to a nineteenth-century adventure serial performed by a stage magician than to conventional space opera. It rewards patience and does not slow down for anyone.
