Synopsis

Detective Katie Scott is taking a break at a cabin in the woods with her service dog, Cisco, when a sharp knocking pulls her to the door. A terrified girl named TJ stands outside, pleading for her aid. TJ claims to have come across the body of a girl among the trees.

Katie follows her to the spot. A girl's body hangs from a tree, a sack over her head, wearing only an oversized t-shirt, with a freshly lit candle burning on the ground below. When Katie turns to question TJ, TJ has disappeared.

At dawn, a second body is found laid out about a mile from the first. It is TJ. The scene matches the earlier one, down to a small shrine at her feet. Katie now faces what looks like a serial killer.

More bodies and shrines follow, and Katie has to find what links the girls to the man behind them. Then she comes across a cold case that the local police seem set on keeping quiet, and the danger starts to look much closer to her than she thought. This crime thriller keeps a fast, dark pace.
