Synopsis

Bea has haunted the River's End for more than a century. A curse binds her to wash the grave clothes of the dying, and she studies the bloodstained fabric for fragments of a spell that might release her.

Brennen has sworn vengeance on the woman he believes killed the person he loved. He is posted to guard her, and he arrives with that grudge intact.

Then women begin to disappear across the kingdom. Bea sees deaths before they happen, and each vision comes true. Guard and prisoner have to work together, though neither trusts the other.

The book is the first in the Curse of the Fates series. It is a gothic romantasy drawn from Scottish washerwoman folklore, and the romance is an enemies-to-lovers slow burn. The attachment that forms between Bea and Brennen carries more danger than either of them meant it to, and the question is what it will cost them both.
