Synopsis

In the village of Frip, where goat's milk is the economy, strange, orange, many-eyed creatures called gappers arrive daily from the ocean, threatening the livelihood of the villagers by stopping their goats from giving milk. When these gappers inexplicably target the goats of a young girl named Capable and her widowed father, their neighbors, the Romos and Ronsens, turn their backs on them. Capable must find a way to deal with the gapper plague and her community's selfishness as her family's share of the economy dwindles.
