Synopsis

A companion to The Phoenix Project, returning to Parts Unlimited from the developers' side of the building. Maxine, a senior lead developer and architect, is exiled to the Phoenix Project as punishment for a payroll outage she had little to do with, and finds a bureaucracy where nothing ships without months of committees, paperwork and approvals. Then a group of misfits inside the company invites her to help them tear the system down and put engineering back at the centre of it. Kim tells it as a novel and uses it to lay out what he calls the Five Ideals.
