Synopsis

Touraine, a soldier in the colonial army of the Balladairan Empire, is sent to suppress a rebellion in her homeland of Qazal. Torn between her loyalty to the empire and her people, she must navigate a treacherous political landscape. Meanwhile, Luca, a princess of the empire, seeks to prove her worth and secure her claim to the throne, leading her to Qazal where her path intertwines with Touraine's.

C. L. Clark — Cherae Lichelle Clark — is an American fantasy writer, editor and teacher. Born in Oklahoma and raised in Kansas City, she graduated from Indiana University's MFA in creative writing and was a 2012 Lambda Literary Fellow; she has since worked as a personal trainer, an English teacher and an editor, and teaches on the faculty of Vermont College of Fine Arts.
