Like The Book Thief and Jane Eyre (which, incidentally, plays a huge role in this story), The Thirteenth Tale has become an instant favorite.
I bought a copy three years ago, as a birthday present for a friend, and wanted to read it ever since. It was only last week that I found a cheap copy at a used bookstore and grabbed it immediately. The story I devoured over the last three days was NOTHING like I expected but everything I needed.
Sisters and mysteries and ghosts and pain and books, this book is exactly what I look for every time I read. The themes are many, the stories interweave and hardly make sense unless all put together. It's beautiful, though I know some won't like the prose. The Thirteenth Tale is perfect for anyone who loves to read, who loves stories, who finds a good mystery in anything.
And a good liking for Jane Eyre certainly helps :)
