It revolves on a story of a family that went missing years ago that one day, after 4 years, both of their daughters suddenly reappeared looking like nothing has changed, same age same height yet both being sick with the same strain of cancer.\n\nThe plot then follows an investigative journey by Marcus Handler; a retired CIA officer, to find the answer to the family disappearance and on why the parents are still not to be found. Tense and intriguing plot, quite addictive to me though I am more fond to read Marcus' perspective the most (the book was told in 3 parts with 3 POVs). I love how the interaction goes in between characters also a huge fan to Lumaga (investigation officer) and Marcus friendship (I would read it if the author makes a crime series with these two).\n\nFast-paced and straightforward, and I realised that it actually carried a light extraterrestrial theme (a made believe as expected) that started too tragically from a person who wants to cheat death. \"I’ve had a mortal fear of fire and a mortal fear of death. I thought I could cheat death.\" Love that the last part was actually a perspective from this person that reading his part was both gripping and hauntingly disturbing for me-- how from a medical intention could lead to a greed and huge mistake. Also, it kind of fascinates me to read all the medical jargons (that I actually go google a few, wondering is it possible) and bit depressing to see how an adult could manipulate little kid to trust them like that :\u002F\u002F I get the hint right away when Victoria said I love you to Celeste! \n\nBit packed nearly the end, abrupt and hurry-- expected but love the action scenes of it. This probably among books that I enjoyed the style of writing quite much. Would recommend if you're into thriller and action, bearable pinch of sci-fi if you're not fancy the theme that much (like me).
