Synopsis

Brother Cadfael leaves the safety of his abbey for a diplomatic mission to Wales, only to find himself caught between warring princes and a fleet of Danish mercenaries. When he is taken prisoner alongside a young woman fleeing a forced marriage, the monk must navigate a web of political treachery to find a killer. He has little hope of returning home until he can secure a fragile peace and see justice served.

Edith Mary Pargeter OBE BEM (28 September 1913 – 14 October 1995), also known by her pen name Ellis Peters, was an English author of works in many categories, especially history and historical fiction, and was also honoured for her translations of Czech classics. She is probably best known for her murder mysteries, both historical and modern, and especially for her medieval detective series The Cadfael Chronicles.
