Synopsis

Dr. Luke Bradford has settled into life as Watervalley's only physician, but the small Tennessee town is not as untroubled as it looks. A feud is simmering, and at its centre is Luther Whitmore — the acid-tongued newspaper publisher whose years in Vietnam left wounds nobody in Watervalley has ever seen. As Luke is drawn into the lives of the town's veterans, he learns how far the cost of service reaches, and what service, courage, love and sacrifice look like in ordinary days.
