Simon Jimenez is a Filipino-American speculative fiction writer born in 1989, raised between Canada and the Philippines, and now living in Philadelphia; he holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College. His debut, The Vanished Birds, was a finalist for the Locus and Arthur C. Clarke Awards. His second novel, The Spear Cuts Through Water, won the 2023 British Fantasy Award for Best Novel and the Crawford Award.
