Synopsis

Where are you from? It is a simple question with a complicated answer for Aurora. Mixed-race and Australian, she has moved between countries and cultures for as long as she can remember, and she starts university in England with one thing she actually wants: to feel settled somewhere.

Navigating a first year is complicated enough. Then she meets Teddy Talbot — the only child of Lord and Lady Trentbridge — and finds herself unwittingly folded into an elite set she has no obvious business being part of. Teddy is tall, charismatic and gorgeous, with a line of girls trailing after him, and Aurora sees him for what he is: arrogant, disarming and dangerous. She intends to keep him at a distance. But friendships form around the two of them anyway, and Teddy's attention narrows onto her, and distance becomes steadily harder to hold.

The Southern Lights is the first book in Amanda Townsend's The Light Saga — a university-set romance about identity, sisterhood and reputation, and about how hard it is to let anyone see you when you are still working out who you are.
