Synopsis

A dark, aching fantasy short story told in the second person. The Saint of War spares the life of a dying servant girl so she can become her kingdom's greatest warrior—a living weapon in the hand of the prince she loves. Her victories make him a king, then an emperor, and each time she falls in battle she is reborn to fight again. But the war never ends, the cost keeps mounting, and she must ask how many times she can die for a story that traps her even as it exalts her. A meditation on love, loyalty, sacrifice, and the myths we build to survive.
