Dixon, Franklin W. (Mc Farlane, Leslie)
Franklin W. Dixon, a pseudonym for Leslie McFarlane, is the mind behind the classic Hardy Boys mysteries. Fans will recognize his signature style from early adventures like The Shore Road Mystery.
The Shore Road Mystery
When the Hardy Boys agree to help their friend Jack Dodd find a hidden family treasure, they quickly find themselves entangled in a much larger mystery. A cryptic clue from a Pilgrim ancestor is their only lead, but when Jack and his father are accused of car theft and then vanish, Frank and Joe must determine if they've fled, been kidnapped, or are pursuing the treasure themselves. The young detectives, aided by their loyal friend Chet Morton, must race against time and a dangerous criminal gang to uncover the truth.
This book is the fifth installment in the Hardy Boys series. While each mystery generally presents a self-contained plot, reading the books in order allows for a more complete understanding of the characters' development and recurring elements.
The story was adapted into a film in 1969 as part of The Hardy Boys television series. It closely follows the plot of the original novel.
