This book is such a drag that I am miserable that I did not leave it halfway. I want to say it gets better after about 50% but I can’t. The story , for whatever its worth , doesn’t impress me - an unlikeable man finding his life and meaning in a remote town of Newfoundland. The characters are terrible , the writing is terrible , it amazes me how this even won the Pulitzer. Pick this up only if you like disjointed sentences and want a slow read.
