I picked up this book hoping for an engaging travel book. While it did deliver on the travel aspect, it didn’t hold my attention as much as I had hoped. I found the author’s sense of humor didn’t quite resonate with me, and the narrative often felt like not much was happening, aside from highlighting the cultural differences of living in a very small Pacific island country.
Reading it felt more like following the diary of a relatively mundane life on a tropical island. While that might be enjoyable to experience firsthand, it didn’t translate into a particularly gripping read for me. If you’re looking for an in-depth exploration of island life, it might be worth a try, but it wasn’t quite what I was looking for.
