This was a really solid horror read. It did lean pretty heavily on the gore, but honestly, that feels fairly expected with this kind of story and it worked for the most part.
I can’t say anything really surprised me because I pretty much saw everything coming, but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment. Sometimes a horror book doesn’t need to catch me completely off guard to be effective, and this one kept me invested despite being fairly predictable.
The atmosphere was great, the horror was genuinely unsettling, and the story kept moving enough that I never felt like I was forcing myself through it. Nothing mind-blowing, but definitely a good horror that delivered what I wanted from it.
