Madeline Hunter (1952–2025) was a nationally bestselling American author of historical romance who held a Ph.D. in art history and taught at an East Coast university before writing full-time. Her 2000 debut, "By Arrangement," won the Waldenbooks Bestselling Debut Author award, and she went on to publish 24 historical romances, twice winning the Romance Writers of America's RITA award. She lived in Pennsylvania with her husband and two sons.
