The Secret Marriage

One woman has a husband called Nick: charming, successful, the sort of man who is liked immediately by everyone he meets. Another woman has a husband called Nicholas, who is all of the same things.

He is one man. Only one of the two wives knows that, and she has known for a while.

Mikayla Davids alternates between Kirsty and Eva and runs each of them across two timelines, so the reader watches both courtships happen and can see the joins the women cannot. What holds it together is not the reveal, which arrives early, but the question of what the wife who knows has decided to do, how long she has been preparing it, and which of the neighbours have been watching all of this without saying anything.
