Synopsis
In Miracle Springs, North Carolina, a town that trades on healing, Nora Pennington runs Miracle Books and practises bibliotherapy: matching troubled visitors with the novels that fit their deepest struggles. When a distressed businessman she has been trying to help is found dead on the railroad tracks, the ruling is suicide, and Nora does not believe it.
To get at the truth she recruits three other women with damage of their own: Hester, who bakes comfort scones; June, who works at the spa; and Estella, who runs the salon. They call themselves the Secret, Book, and Scone Society, and the price of membership is that each of them tell the others her darkest secret.
What begins as an unlikely friendship becomes an investigation into corruption that reaches through the town. The Secret, Book & Scone Society is the first book of Ellery Adams' cozy mystery series.
