Synopsis

Private detective Cormoran Strike is engaged by a concerned father to help extract his adult son, Will, from the Universal Humanitarian Church — a religious organisation that presents itself as a benevolent campaigning group from its base in the Norfolk countryside. As Strike digs, he uncovers deeply sinister undertones behind the church's public image, including unexplained deaths among its members.

To get inside where Strike cannot, his business partner Robin Ellacott goes undercover, living incognito within the cult for months. Isolated from Strike and forced to withstand the group's methods of psychological control, Robin is exposed to dangers, and a personal toll, she is unprepared for.

The seventh novel in the Cormoran Strike series, The Running Grave continues the long-running partnership between Strike and Robin, including the slow-building tension in their own relationship, against the backdrop of an investigation into coercion, deception and the cost of getting too close to the truth.
