Synopsis

Halcyon Hall sits on Bane Island, off the coast of Maine, and sells itself as a luxury wellness retreat. It used to be Bainesworth Manor, an asylum, and the island still tells stories about what was done to the people locked inside it.

Rosemary Tulle's younger sister Genevieve checked into Halcyon Hall and disappeared. The staff insist she left of her own accord. Rosemary and Genevieve share a bond that makes that impossible to accept, so Rosemary goes to the island herself — and is forced to ask for help from Whit Lawrence, a judge she had hoped never to see again.

Getting at the truth about Genevieve means getting at the truth about Bainesworth Manor, and about Rosemary's own past. Lisa Childs opens the Bane Island trilogy with an atmospheric gothic suspense novel where the setting is as much a threat as anyone in it.
