Synopsis

Separated from Khalid and sheltering in the desert camp of the rebels who mean to destroy him, Shahrzad is caught between the man she has come to love and the family and first love she left behind. Khorasan is in ruins, its capital scorched by a curse that only Shahrzad may be able to break, and war is coming for them all.

As Tariq marches at the head of an army bent on toppling the Caliph, Shahrzad races to master the strange magic waking inside her and to uncover the ancient power behind Khalid's curse. Loyalties fracture, secrets surface, and every choice carries the weight of an empire.

The conclusion to Renée Ahdieh's duology that began with The Wrath and the Dawn, The Rose and the Dagger brings Shahrzad's story to a sweeping close, deepening its magic and its romance as it drives toward a reckoning that will decide the fate of a kingdom.
