This was like [b:Desperation|10584|Desperation|Stephen King|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1395764566l/10584._SY75_.jpg|14015] from hell!
I personally preferred Desperation but this was such a fun (and stressful) read too.
I can't lie, at first, seeing all these characters in a new setting, at different ages, even with different relationships put me off a little (specially the Carvers family) but I got used to it fast. This is a different level of the Tower after all.
Though most of them are recurring characters, they were all very different from their twinners.
But I loved seeing characters that were barely explored in Desperation here. I loved the Josephsons and Entragian, and hated the Sodersons.
I also loved the small and sometimes not-so small (some sentences/paragraphs were either the exact same or the exact opposite) references to Desperation and I'm glad I read the two books back to back so I caught these references.
Despite the Desperation world literally bleeding into this world, the setting was still so different, I didn't know how this was going to end. I thought I knew at least which characters would die or survive, but I was way off with that too.
Overall, it was an enjoyable read. I lived that the format switched between letters, diary entries, screenplays, and the normal narration of the novel.
And that final chapter from the perspective of keystone world (our world) was so wholesome and beautiful.
