The Prophet of Yonwood

Nickie moves to the old house in Yonwood where her great-uncle lived, and soon finds herself caught in the town's unraveling. When a local woman named Althea Tower falls into a trance and begins uttering a cryptic prophecy about a coming fire, the town's zealot leader Brenda Beeson turns the words into a strict, paranoid code of conduct. As the community descends into paranoia and the prophecy's meaning becomes a matter of life and death, Nickie must navigate a world where the truth is hidden behind a wall of fear. Set fifty years before the events of The City of Ember, this prequel reveals the origins of the prophecy that would one day shape the fate of the underground city.
