Synopsis

In the year 6066, Asha is an engineer working an assembly line in the Thracin empire's war machine, building weapons meant to keep humans like her in their place. She has no voice and no say. Then she learns that a sister she never knew may still be alive in the empire's imperial prison, and she decides to risk everything to reach her.

Obi comes from 19th-century London. He split his soul and caught a temporal sickness, and he needs a cure. He also longs to return to the prince who holds his heart. His search crosses Asha's path, and the two learn they are part of a prophecy: fated heroes who meet again and again across space and time to stop an interdimensional apocalypse.

Together they set out for the centre of the galaxy, travelling between stars while the empire hunts them. A forgotten planet is collapsing under the damage left by those who took its future, and the clock runs against them from the first page. The book opens at the end of the story, then works toward it.

This is science fantasy adventure on an epic scale, told with a narrator who frames the tale as scripture. It follows a found-family group of allies and treats empire's inherited trauma as its central concern. Expect a big, fast-moving quest with high stakes, a time-travel structure and a romance running through it.
