Synopsis

The standard handbook for people teaching English as a foreign language, and the one most training courses set. Across twenty-four chapters Jeremy Harmer covers how English works, how people learn a language, what a teacher is actually doing in the room, and how to plan, manage and assess a class — with the later editions adding a DVD of whole lessons and interviews with the teachers about the choices they made. First published in 1983 and revised through several editions since.
