The perfect lover

In 1985, a group illusion experiment creates Wessex, an imaginary resort island where participants live out a future free from their past memories. Their unconscious bodies are sustained by elaborate life-support systems while their minds build a serene world. Four years into this project, a cunning sociopath named Paul Mason takes over as director, aiming to reshape the communal imaginings. Only his former mistress, Julia Stretton, and her new lover, David Harkman, can resist his control, as David has developed an immunity to the hypnotic triggers that govern the others.
