Synopsis

The Omen (1976) by David Seltzer is a classic supernatural horror novel centered on Damien Thorn, the seemingly innocent young son of wealthy couple Jeremy and Katherine Thorn. After their own newborn dies at birth, they are told a doctor can save him — unaware that the child has been replaced with the Antichrist to fulfill an ancient prophecy.

As Damien grows into childhood, his presence is marked by disturbing events: animals dying around him, people in his path suffering freak accidents, and dark omens hinting at his true nature. The novel follows Jeremy's growing dread as he uncovers what his son really is.
