The Novice

Fletcher is working as a blacksmith's apprentice in a small village when he discovers a rare and terrifying gift: he can summon demons from another world. When he's framed for a crime he didn't commit, he's forced to flee everything he's ever known, with only Ignatius, the demon he's summoned, at his side.

Their path leads to an academy where the gifted are trained as battlemages, and Fletcher is put through grueling training to prepare him for the Hominum Empire's war against the orcs. As he learns to master his power and navigate a school full of rivals and allies alike, Fletcher has to figure out whether the gift that made him an outcast might also make him the empire's best hope.
